Gov. Holcomb Announces Judicial Appointment For Jasper County Superior Court Vacancy

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Gov. Eric Holcomb today announced Russell D. Bailey as his appointment to the Jasper County Superior Court. Judge Bailey will succeed Judge James R. Ahler who was appointed to the United States Bankruptcy Court in June 2017.

Judge Bailey currently serves as judge for the DeMotte Town Court in Jasper County. A native of Jasper County, he also maintains a private law practice in DeMotte and has practiced law in Jasper County since 2012. Judge Bailey previously served as an attorney for the Indiana Department of Revenue and a deputy attorney general for the State of Indiana.

He earned an associate of science degree from Vincennes University, a bachelor of science degree from Indiana University Northwest and his law degree from Valparaiso University. Judge Bailey brings to the bench a solid work ethic, a well-developed sense of fairness and a commitment to his community.

Judge Bailey will be sworn in as Superior Court Judge on a date to be determined.
