(UNDATED) - Recently, Indiana State Police Capitol Police Section Sergeant Precious Jones was honored at the 2017 National Youth Summit held at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Christi Griffin, founder and president of the Ethics Project, stated Sgt. Jones was presented with the Ambassador Andrew Young Award for Outstanding Ethics and Service to Family and Community
The Ethics Project is an award winning, non-profit, focused on decreasing the impact that crime, injustice, and mass incarceration have on children, families, and communities. One of the Projects main objectives is to raise awareness, develop leadership, and increase educational excellence. The Ethics Project has hosted ten summits in the St. Louis region and recently hosted the third national summit in Atlanta, Georgia at Morehouse College.
The Ambassador Andrew Young Award for Outstanding Ethics and Service to Family and Community, personally presented by Ambassador Young, has been presented since 2011 to outstanding citizens in conjunction with the Summit. Sgt. Jones was included this year as an honoree for going above and beyond the call of duty by exhibiting kindness and compassion toward a distressed kindergarten student.

"It is very heartwarming to have such a prestigious organization recognize the actions of one of our Capitol Police Officers as they interact with the public they serve," stated Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter. "This inter action is not unique to the Indiana State Police however, this type of positive interaction occurs thousands of times a day throughout the nation.
History of Ebenezer Baptist Church
Throughout its long history, Ebenezer Baptist Church, located in Atlanta, Georgia, has been a spiritual home to many citizens of the "Sweet Auburn" community. The most famous member, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., was baptized as a child in the church. After giving a trial sermon to the congregation at the age of 19, Martin was ordained as a minister. In 1960 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. became a co-pastor of Ebenezer with his father, Rev. Martin Luther King, Sr., known as "Daddy" King. He remained in that position until his death in 1968. As a final farewell to his spiritual home Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s funeral was held in the Ebenezer Baptist Church.
