Scientists Say Mouse Hormone Can Help People Lose Weight

(UNDATED) - Scientists funded by the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases discovered that a hormone produced by a mouse’s bones has a suppressive effect on appetite and weight gain.

The hormone, called osteocalcin, reveals a new mechanism for controlling metabolism which could lead scientists to discover new approaches for treating obesity, diabetes and other metabolic disorders, the NIAMSD said.
