Portage Man Injured In Tree Stand Fall

(PORTER CO.) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a tree stand incident that occurred on private property in Porter Township at 3:30 p.m.

37-year-old Michael Bukur of Portage fell approximately 15 feet from his tree stand. Bukur, at the time of the fall, was trying to secure a double tree stand to a tree when he lost his footing and fell to the ground.

From the on-scene investigation, by Officer Nicole Baumann, it appeared Bukur possibly broke both of ankles due to the impact of the fall. He was transported to Porter Regional Hospital for additional medical treatment.

Responding agencies, assisting at the scene, where the Boone Grove Fire Department, Porter Township Fire Department, and Porter EMS.
