Last updated on Friday, October 20, 2017

(GIBSON CO.) - State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at the Gibson County Jail.

Gibson County Correctional Officers found 52-year-old Charles Bradley Sherman of Princeton hanging in his cell around 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

They started CPR before Sherman was taken to Gibson County General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

State Police say their preliminary investigation shows Sherman was in his personal cell without his cellmate for about two hours.

His cellmate found him hanging from a bed sheet when he returned.

Gibson County Sheriff Tim Bottoms says Sherman was jailed June 16th on a charge of residential entry. An additional charge of dealing in meth was recently filed against him.

State Police Detectives say they don't suspect foul play.

An autopsy has been scheduled.

The investigation is ongoing.
