Exercise Doesn't Guarantee Low Cholesterol

(UNDATED) - For decades, health care professionals have advised Americans to lower their blood cholesterol with healthy doses of exercise, but a study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests exercise isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

The CDC researchers found that people who did not adhere to the exercise guidelines had a greater chance of achieving low HDL levels than people who did exercise.

According to the CDC, about 21 percent of U.S. adults with low HDL cholesterol did not meet recommended exercise guidelines.
