(UNDATED) - The barn owl pair on the nest cam in southern Indiana is incubating eggs.
Barn owls are a state endangered species, with fewer than 15 nests reported statewide in 2016.
The barn owls on the webcam have been living in a DNR-built nest box inside a barn in southern Indiana since 2009 and have nested each year since.
Barn owls are an endangered species in Indiana, mostly due to habitat loss. The Indiana DNR continues to work with the public to place nest boxes where suitable habitat is available. The DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife's Wildlife Diversity Program has placed more than 300 barn owl nest boxes since 1984.
These owls typically lay their eggs in March or April, with chicks hatching in April or May buy they are laying again.
