Arsenic Contaminates Private Well Water

Last updated on Friday, October 20, 2017

(UNDATED) - A study from the U.S. Geological Survey and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 2.1 million Americans may be ingesting arsenic found in drinking water from private domestic wells.

Joe Ayotte, a hydrologist who was the study's lead author, said nearly all of the arsenic found in drinking water comes from natural sources, primarily rocks and minerals through which the water flows.
