U.S. Supreme Court Approaches October With Heavy Docket

Last updated on Tuesday, September 26, 2017

(UNDATED) - The U.S. Supreme Court gavels its new term into session on the fast-approaching first Monday in October with a heavy docket of 30 cases already accepted for review.

A report from the Congressional Research Service enumerates a half dozen of the most significant cases coming before the high court. Among them are controversies involving how police can use cell phone location data, a federal ban on Internet sports wagering that doesn't apply to Nevada, a Wisconsin redistricting plan that redefined "gerrymandering," and a baker's refusal to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple.
