Officers Investigate Possible Drowning On Lake Wawasee

(SYRACUSE) - A woman, 43, of Elkhart, went to check on her son, 13, of Elkhart, who had gone to bed at the residence of 10768 N Southshore Drive, Syracuse. The woman was unable to locate her son around 11:55 p.m. and asked her husband, 39, of Elkhart, for assistance.

The husband checked the area on foot while his wife checked the house. The husband then checked the pier located at the residence. After searching for roughly thirty minutes the husband was able to find his son submerged in the water near the residence.

Local agencies performed CPR and life saving techniques, but were unable to revive the juvenile. Agencies present were Kosciusko Sheriff's Department, Syracuse Police Department, Syracuse Fire and Indiana State Police.

This incident is currently an open investigation by Indiana Conservation Officers.
