Last updated on Tuesday, September 12, 2017

(JASPER) - One man was killed and another injured when a boom lift collapsed Monday at Jasper High School’s Jerry Brewer Alumni Stadium.

Both men were in the bucket as it was being lowered and for an unknown reason, the lift tipped and fell about 40 feet to the ground. The men were replacing lights around the football field when the accident happened at 12:06 p.m.

62-year-old Earl Hulsman, of Ireland, died from his injuries.

60-year-old Kurt Brescher of Velpen was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
