(SOUTH BEND) - A young man originally sentenced to a 90-year prison term is getting a reduced sentence for his role in the killing of a northern Indiana boy.

18-year-old Tyre Bradbury is scheduled to be sentenced to 60 years in prison Wednesday in St. Joseph County. The South Bend man's re-sentencing comes months after the state Court of Appeals found that his original sentence was too severe.

Bradbury was convicted of murder last year for providing the handgun another man used to fire a shot that killed 2-year-old John Swoveland Jr. in 2014 as the toddler played outside -- several blocks away from a gang fight.

The South Bend Tribune reports Bradbury originally received the minimum sentence for murder -- 45 years -- but a criminal gang enhancement doubled his sentence.
