(UNDATED) - Research funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases suggests that infant children who are exposed to high indoor levels of pet or pest allergens may help prevent them from developing asthma before age 7.
A study of 560 newborns with at least one parent with asthma or allergies found that exposure to higher levels of four allergens - cockroach, mouse, cat and dog - was associated with a lower risk of developing asthma.
