(INDIANAPOLIS) - The 41st anniversary of the child support program just passed and the Commission on Improving the Status of Children in Indiana is welcoming a new executive director.
With these major milestones, the chair of the House Committee on Family, Children and Human Affairs State Rep. Dave Frizzell (R-Indianapolis) shares with us the importance of continuing to assist the more than 26,000 Hoosier children being supported by the state.
The Child Support Bureau has partnered with two different organizations to offer the option of making cash payments at a wide variety of retail locations both in Indiana and nationwide.
PayNearMe is the most recent option, with locations inside CVS, Family Dollar and 7-Eleven stores. Once parents set up an online account at , they are given a payment code to scan at the retail location. Payments can be made during regular store business hours for a fee of $1.99 per transaction.
MoneyGram was implemented last year. MoneyGram is available at many locations throughout the nation such as Walmart, CVS, and Ace Cash Express. Log on to to see all payment locations. Payments can be made during regular store business hours for a fee of $4.99 per transaction.
Indiana's child support program processes over $900 million in child support payments each year. "While paying cash at the county clerk or court has always been an option, we recognize that many parents need more flexibility," said Cynthia Longest, director of Indiana Child Support Bureau. "Our goal is always to ensure that parents can pay child support in the easiest manner possible, so we are pleased to be able to offer these two new methods for cash payments."
Parents still have the option to pay by credit/debit card, personal check or money order. Click on childsupport.in.gov/pay for details about all payment options.
Additionally, parents who need assistance with child support services such as establishment, modification or enforcement of support orders no longer have to pay a fee to receive this assistance. More information on applying for Indiana's "Title IV-D" child support program is available at childsupport.in.gov/apply.
