Crime Was On Upswing In 2016

(UNDATED) - The Federal Bureau of Investigation said the violent crime rate increased by 3.4 percent in 2016, up from 3.3 percent in 2015; and, the nationwide homicide rate increased by 7.9 percent in 2016, a decrease from the previous year’s 11.4 percent.

The 2016 Crime in the United States report said violent crime increases in 2015 and 2016 represented the largest single-year increases in the violent crime rate since 1991.
