Last updated on Tuesday, August 15, 2017

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Online registration is now open for the Indiana Youth Institute’s 2017 Because KIDS COUNT Conference.

For 16 years, IYI has hosted this conference, the largest gathering of youth workers and educators in the Midwest. The 2017 conference will take place on Tuesday, November 28 and Wednesday, November 29 at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis.

Workshops and speakers at BKCC will help those who work with youth "up their game" to help youth reach greater heights. The conference will feature more than 60 workshops focusing on youth development, health and safety, program observation and assessment, learning environments and curriculum, family and community engagement, leadership and professionalism, and organizational development.

Keynote speakers for the 2017 conference include former foster child turned youth advocate Ashley Rhodes-Courter on November 28. Kevin Carroll, author of the Red Rubber Ball book series, will take the stage on November 29 to examine how play can be a catalyst for change and success in a child's life.

In addition to premium workshops, training sessions and networking opportunities, attendees can take advantage of youth work and nonprofit support services and products from nearly 100 exhibitors in the Vectren Resource Center.

On Monday, November 27, IYI will host The Leadership Institute, featuring educator and author Michael Brandwein. The Leadership Institute is a special set of workshops designed specifically for nonprofit executive directors, board members and organizational leaders. These professional development sessions teach attendees how to increase the sustainability of their organizations.

Conference attendees can take advantage of discounted rates by registering online now. Two-day admission to the conference will cost $150, while one day admission will cost $85. Those interested in attending the Leadership Institute may register for $45. Discounted rates will end on September 6.

Beginning September 7, the two-day standard rate will be $175, the one-day rate will increase to $100 and the cost of the Leadership Institute will be $60. After online registration ends on November 13, anyone wishing to attend may register on-site at costs of $200, $115 and $75, respectively.

To off-set the cost of attending, IYI distributes vouchers to every community foundation and United Way agency in the state. Those interested in obtaining a voucher should call their local offices to determine availability.
