Kasich, Hickenlooper Consider Joint 2020 Presidential Unity Bid

Last updated on Tuesday, August 29, 2017

(WASHINGTON DC) - Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich and Colorado Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper may unite to form an independent presidential ticket in 2020, according to unnamed sources that spoke with Axios on Friday.

Talk Medic News reports that the governors, both of whom will leave office in January 2019, became acquainted at national conferences and over the course of many discussions as well as recent joint public appearances-discovered areas of mutual agreement on health care reform and other pressing issues.

Sources told Axios that the hierarchy of the prospective ticket would most likely favor Kasich.

Kasich is a frequent critic of President Donald Trump as well as a former 2016 presidential contender. He recently blasted Trump for suggesting moral parity between anti-racist counter-protestors and the white nationalists they confronted about two weeks ago at a rally in Charlottesville, Va.

Both Kasich and Hickenlooper are proponents of immigration reform and have at times expressed disagreement with Trump's arguably hard-line immigration policies.
