Indiana's Family of Farmers Showcases Variety In Ag At Indiana State Fair

Last updated on Wednesday, August 2, 2017

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana’s Family of Farmers (IFoF) will offer a fun challenge for Indiana State Fair attendees this year with its annual Recipe Trail to educate fairgoers about Indiana’s locally-sourced foods.

IFoF will donate two freezers to Habitat for Humanity at this year's fair along with $250 of local pork, beef and poultry to each home in December when the families have relocated into the homes.

IFoF Recipe Trail

The IFoF Recipe Trail cards feature recipes from real farmers around Indiana and highlight Indiana's commodities such as pork, beef, poultry, soybeans, corn and dairy. Those interested in participating in the Recipe Trail will start at any of the eight locations and travel to each stop to collect each recipe card. At each stop, fairgoers have the opportunity to learn new information about Indiana agriculture. Participants can visit any of the Indiana State Fair information booths with all seven recipes to receive a small prize for participating.

The Recipe Trail locations are:

Habitat for Humanity Partnership

IFoF is again partnering with Habitat for Humanity at the Indiana State Fair. Each year, Habitat for Humanity builds homes on the state fairgrounds to be donated to local families. IFoF will donate a freezer to each home recipient now. Then, when the families occupy their new homes in December, $250 of local pork, beef and poultry will be donated to fill those freezers.

IFoF is made up of many agriculture organizations in Indiana that have rallied around the group's mission to raise the awareness of Indiana's quality farmers and quality foods. Several IFoF member organizations are participating in the Indiana State Fair this year. Several of those member highlights are detailed in the corresponding attachment.
