New Opportunity For 21st Century Scholars During Private College Week

Last updated on Monday, July 10, 2017

(INDIANAPOLIS) - As part of Private College Week (July 17-21, 2017), 21st Century Scholars and their families are invited to visit Indiana’s private, nonprofit colleges and universities on Wednesday, July 19, to complete one or more activities required for their Scholar Success Program.

The program consists of 12 activities, including "Visit a College Campus," that 21st Century Scholars must complete in order to access their scholarships.

While 21st Century Scholars Day is specially designed for Scholars, all students are welcome, as Scholar Success activities are recommended, if not required, for everyone planning to attend college.

For a complete list of activities and schedules, see http://www.icindiana.org/.

All activities are free of charge.

In addition to the campus visit, fifteen ICI institutions are offering students the opportunity to complete other required Scholar Success activities, including "Search for Scholarships," "Submit Your College Application," and "Estimate the Costs of College." Several colleges will also have representatives from the Indiana Commission for Higher Education on-hand to help Scholars verify their activities online.

ICI and the Indiana Commission for Higher Education teamed up to design the July 19th special Scholars day. "The Commission is excited about the creation of a 21st Century Scholar Day during Private College Week," says Jarod Wilson, Postsecondary Outreach and Engagement Manager at The Commission. "We believe that students who receive the scholarship should have the choice to attend their best fit school of their choice in the state of Indiana -public, private, or proprietary."

Visitors between the ages of 16 and 20 touring ICI campuses during 21st Century Scholars Day and Private College Week will also have the chance to enter a drawing for one of two Microsoft Surface or Apple iPad mini tablets. Entry forms and rules will be available at each campus.
