(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Arts Commission announced its Executive Committee officers for the new fiscal year which began July 1, 2017.

Kathy Anderson, Nashville, Indiana will serve as Commission Chair. Originally from Evansville, Anderson is a graduate of Indiana University's School of Nursing. She and her family lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for 37 years before returning to Indiana to enjoy retirement. Kathy has become actively involved with the Brown County Playhouse, Indiana Heritage Arts, the Nashville Arts and Entertainment Commission, and is a member of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Advocacy Board, and Women's Philanthropy Leadership Council. In 2014, Kathy was awarded an Indiana University Distinguished Alumni Service Award. Anderson becomes the 25th Chair of the Commission.

"Thinking about arts on the state level is a challenge I relish," Anderson said. "I am particularly delighted to lead the Commission as it embarks on a new, carefully-crafted and widely vetted strategic plan to place community engagement at the heart of its work."

Allen C. Platt, III, Floyds Knobs, Indiana, was elected as Vice-Chair of the Commission. Platt serves as General Counsel for Samtex, Inc., a global manufacturer of electronic connectors, with world headquarters located in New Albany, Indiana. Allen has a long commitment to and has served as Board President for many of the arts organizations in his community, including The Carnegie Center for Arts and History, Arts Council of Southern Indiana, and the Hayswood Theatre Group where he currently serves as Board Treasurer. He has been a lifelong participant in the arts, performing with the JCC Orchestra, Louisville, Kentucky, and as a frequent actor and director in regional community theatrical productions.

Platt stated that, "the IAC and its professional staff of dedicated arts advocates are helping support artists and work hard to expand access for all Hoosiers to the rich tradition of the arts in Indiana. It has been one of the true honors of my career to serve as a Commissioner, and I look forward to working on the Executive Committee in the next year."

Jennifer Perry, Terre Haute, Indiana, was chosen as Commission Secretary. Perry serves as Chief Marketing Officer for BoxUp, a custom printed box manufacturer that specializes in serving the artisan and small business market. Previously she owned Terre Haute-based marketing agency, Marketability. In addition to her work with the professional creative community, she consulted with several local and state arts organizations. She has served in a volunteer capacity with several local arts organizations over the years.

"I am pleased to represent West Central Indiana on the Indiana Arts Commission," Perry said. "My motivation to serve as the Secretary is rooted in my belief that the work the Commission carries out is meaningful and impactful on all Hoosiers' quality of life. I feel particularly passionate about the effect of the arts on our rural communities."

Executive Committee officers are chosen by their fellow commissioners to serve a two-year term of office. The Executive Committee implements the Commission's Strategic Plan, oversees the management of agency policy and procedures, and is responsible for hiring the agency's executive director.

"The Indiana Arts Commission is privileged to have a diverse and dedicated group of leaders willing to lend their vision and leadership to further the impact of the arts for all Hoosiers," said Lewis C. Ricci, IAC Executive Director.

The Indiana Arts Commission is dedicated to the vision of the arts everywhere, every day, for everyone in Indiana.
