Former FBI Instructor To Offer Cyber Crime And Cyber Forensics Training At VU Gibson Center

(VINCENNES) - Vincennes University will offer Inside Cyber Crime and Cyber Forensics as the first course in a new series founded by the VU Cyber Academy.

The course will be held Sept. 18-22, 8 a.m. (CDT) to 3:30 p.m. daily, at the VU Gibson Center located in Fort Branch. The course fee is $1,400.

The course is specifically designed to give business executives, information technology professionals, those in law enforcement, and persons interested in learning about cyber security the knowledge and skills needed to secure critical data and systems from cyber threats.

Participants will learn about the prevailing cyber threat landscape; how to identify, investigate, and become more secure against cybercrime; how to strengthen security policies by understanding the investigative techniques and laws that can be used to protect organizations against cybercrimes; and how to increase their ability to identify online bad habits and comprehend potential threats. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will earn a certificate of completion and have options for college credit.

Inside Cybercrime and Cyber-Forensics was developed as a partnership between the VU departments of Information Technology and Homeland Security. The course instructor will be Steve Moore, a retired training instructor with 14.5 years of experience as an FBI Investigative Computer Crimes and Criminal Investigations training instructor at the FBI Academy in Quantico, irginia. Moore has performed computer forensics as an FBI CART-Tech and Digital Extraction Technician (DExT) and has conducted computer forensic exams, executed computer crime related search warrants, and testified in state and federal courts.

ABOUT THE VU PROGRAMS

VU offers baccalaureate degrees in Technology/Information Technology concentration, Homeland Security/Cyber Security and Information Technology concentration, and Homeland Security and Public Safety. Associate degrees are offered in Information Technology, IT Support and Cyber Security, Computer Programming, Web Design, and Game Development as well as Law Enforcement, Conservation Law, and Paralegal.
