(LOWELL) - A semi hauling 40,000 pounds of honey rolled over on the ramp from west bound State Road 2 to I-65 south.
According to an Indiana State Police report, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Trooper Kim Zelnis responded to a single vehicle crash, involving a 2013 Freightliner, owned by Lucky 5 Incorporated out of Lemont, Illinois, pulling a box trailer.
The semi was traveling westbound on State Road 2 and made a left hand turn to go onto the south bound I-65 ramp.
The driver, 57-year-old Collies Lee Sharpes Junior, from Lambert, Mississippi, took the turn too fast and lost control of the semi causing the tractor and trailer to roll over onto its passenger side on the outer shoulder of the ramp.
Sharpes was able to get out on his own and was not injured.
The crash damaged part of the trailer's top and caused a small fuel leak from the tractor's fuel tank.
The honey, loaded in seventeen plastic totes had to be off loaded before the semi could be up righted.
The Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division Inspector will be doing an inspection on the semi.
