(INDIANAPOLIS) - Shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday emergency crews responded to reports of a pedestrian struck along I-70 near the 86 mile marker.

Trooper Casey Witzigreuter was the first to arrive on scene and located a male laying on the right shoulder, unconscious and not breathing. Witzigreuter alerted the dispatcher he could not find a pulse.

The Indianapolis Fire Department arrived on scene seconds later and began emergency medial aid.

The victim was later pronounce deceased at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian stopped at the scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor with that driver in this crash. Troopers are still on scene working to determine exactly what occurred in the moments leading up to the crash.

Any person with information about this crash is asked to call the Indiana State Police at (317) 899-8577.

This is an ongoing investigation with no further information available, the name of the victim is being withheld until positive identification is determined and the family is notified.
