Last updated on Tuesday, May 30, 2017

(FORT WAYNE) - The family of a northeastern Indiana man who died after he was struck by a car while bicycling say they’re devastated the motorist received no jail time in the hit-and-run death.

In Allen County judge sentenced 19-year-old Aaron Moser of Decatur to three years of house arrest and three years of probation on Friday.

Moser had pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident in the October 2016 death of 24-year-old Nicholas Mruk.

Moser admitted striking the Huntertown man with his car and then driving on. Mruk died of blunt force trauma along the roadside.

Kathy Mruk tells WANE-TV that Moser "has sentenced me to life without parole." She says she and her husband, Bill, will spend the rest of their lives grieving for their son.
