MADD Indiana's Walk Like MADD 5K

(PLAINFIELD) - On May 13, Mothers Against Drunk DrivingĀ® (MADD) Indiana will host a Walk Like MADD 5K.

This event will benefit local MADD offices' programs to end drunk driving as well as services that support drunk driving victims and survivors. MADD encourages everyone to sign up now by visiting www.walklikemadd.org/indiana

The event will be held May 13th beginning at 9 a.m. at Hummel Park at the Plainfield Performing Arts Center at 5373 South County Road 700 East.

The keynote speaker will be MADD National President Colleen Sheehey-Church.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving Indiana provides free services to local counties throughout the year. Among these free services is the support of victims and survivors of drunk driving. MADD Victim Services provides emotional support and assistance with the struggles that follow a drunk driving crash. Across the United States, MADD serves a victim or survivor of drunk or drugged driving every 13 minutes, at no charge. In 2016 alone, MADD Indiana served 72 victims. Also in 2016, MADD Indiana also supported Law Enforcement agencies via trainings, sobriety checkpoints, and traffic safety educational programs. MADD Indiana also conducted a Power of Youth program to teach students about the dangers of drunk driving and underage drinking.

For those personally impacted by drunk driving, drugged driving and underage drinking consequences, MADD Victim Services are available at no charge, serving one person every fifteen minutes through local victim advocates and MADD's 24- Hour Victim Help Line, 1- 877-MADD-HELP.
