Indiana Conservation K-9 Unit Recognized Nationally

Last updated on Wednesday, May 10, 2017

(WINONA LAKE) - Indiana Conservation Officers’ Canine Team was recognized nationally as being one of the best.

TK and his handler ICO Jon Cook were called to assist another agency near Winona Lake.

TK was asked to do the impossible and track a young autistic man that had went missing last Monday. Nearly a week of rain and people walking made it extremely hard for a k-9 to find a scent trail.

ICO Cook gave it a shot anyway.

TK got the scent to track from a piece of the missing man's clothing. They began walking down a highly traveled path when TK made a sharp turn into the woods. TK pulled hard and located the missing person well off the trail at the base of a tree.

ICOs are often called on to do the impossible and canine officers are no different.

They both were relived to bringing closure to the victim's family and assist another law enforcement agency with their investigation.
