Name Released In Death Investigation In Lafayette

(WHITE CO.) - Police have released the name of the man who was found dead in a in Lafayette.

The name of the deceased is 65-year-old Virgil L. Watts, of Logansport.

The results of the autopsy showed no signs of foul play. Toxicology reports are pending.

Monday evening around 8:30 p.m. the White County Sheriff's Department requested assistance from the Indiana State Police at the Lafayette Post to investigate a death of a male subject found deceased behind a residence at 1631 North 1400 East Burnettsville.

Upon arrival, investigators found the body on top of what appeared to be a burn pile. Unknown at this time if foul play is involved. An autopsy will be performed this afternoon. Positive identification of the victim has not been made at this time. No other information will be released. The investigation is continuing.

Assisting at the scene was the Monticello Fire and Rescue, White County Coroner's Office, White County Prosecutor's Office Idaville Fire Department, ISP Crime Scene Technician Sgt. Brian Olehy and the Burnettsville Fire Department.
