Bacon Urges Governor To Declare Southwest Indiana A Disaster Area

Last updated on Friday, May 5, 2017

(UNDATED) - State Representative Ron Bacon of Chandler is asking Governor Holcomb to declare portions of Southwest Indiana a disaster area due to flooding caused by near record rainfall.

Bacon says hundreds of acres of farmland in Warrick and surrounding counties are under water.

He says the governor's office is working with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security on his request.

Bacon says if a disaster area is declared, there may be some financial relief for damaged property from the State's Disaster Relief Fund.
