Wrong Way Driver Almost Collides With State Trooper On US 41

(POSEY CO.) - Sunday at approximately 9:30 p.m., Trooper Zackary Fulton was watching traffic while parked in the Schroeder Lane crossover on State Road 66 when he observed a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes.

The wrong-way driver was traveling in the passing lane and nearly struck another vehicle before Trooper Fulton was able to stop the vehicle on State Road 66 at Downen Road.

The driver was 50-year-old Gina Williams, of Evansville.

Fulton detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage and noticed her balance was poor when she exited her vehicle. Further investigation revealed she had a blood-alcohol content of 0.19 percent.

Williams was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated endangerment and taken to the Posey County Jail where she is currently being held on bond.
