Sen. Eric Koch - Drone Bill Headed To Governor's Desk

(STATEHOUSE) - Senate Enrolled Act 299, authored by Sen. Eric Koch (R-Bedford), is on its way to Gov. Eric Holcomb for his final consideration after passing the Indiana General Assembly.

SEA 299 creates four new misdemeanor offenses to address concerns on voyeurism, harassment and public safety. The new offenses are:

Under Koch's bill, if an individual has a prior conviction for the same offense involving an unmanned aerial vehicle or unauthorized picture or video are published or placed on the internet, the charge will be increased to a Level 6 felony. "While the development of drone technology has a substantial benefit for society, we need to ensure they are not used to commit crimes," Koch said. The bill passed both chambers with bipartisan support and will now be sent to the governor for final consideration.
