Rep. Hollingsworth Recognizes Life-Saving Act Of Sheriff's Deputy On House Floor

Last updated on Monday, March 6, 2017

(JEFFERSONVILLE) - On Friday, Representative Trey Hollingsworth took to the House Floor to recognize the life-saving actions of Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy Wes Harper.

On the evening of February 21, Deputy Harper was dispatched to an unconscious 9-month-old child call. Upon his arrival, Deputy Harper scooped the child into his arms and dove into a patrol vehicle where he provided CPR to the infant as another officer raced towards the hospital.

"Deputy Wes Harper's actions speak volumes to his strength of character, dedication to his community, and devotion to protecting lives," Rep. Trey Hollingsworth said. "His quick thinking and effective use of training is directly responsible for a family being able to hear their child's laughter for years to come. On behalf of Indiana's 9th District, I extend our sincerest thanks and appreciation to Deputy Wes Harper."

The child ultimately regained consciousness upon arrival at the hospital, thanks in no small part to the CPR given by Deputy Harper, and was released the following day.
