Drunk Driver Arrested After Driving 101 Miles Per Hour On I-69

(GIBSON CO.) - Monday night at approximately 9:40 p.m., Trooper Alexander Welsh was patrolling I-69 near the 22 mile-marker when he observed a 1995 Geo Prizm traveling northbound at a high rate of speed.

Trooper Welsh activated his radar and clocked the vehicle at 101 mile per hour.

The driver was 23-year-old Christopher Coulson of Petersburg.

Trooper Welsh detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage and field sobriety tests revealed Coulson was impaired. During a search of his vehicle trooper found drug paraphernalia.

Police say Coulson had a blood alcohol content of 0.15 percent.

Coulson was arrested on a felony charge of driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
