Last updated on Friday, March 24, 2017

(UNDATED) - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports widespread cases of the flu spiked within the past three weeks in Indiana.

In early January, officials from the Indiana State Department of Health urged everyone ages six-months and older to get a flu vaccine due to the surge in cases.

According to reports from the health department, 39 people in Indiana residents have died this flu season. Most of the flu-related deaths involved those over the age of 65.
