3 Arrested For Theft At Indy 1500 Gun & Knife Show

Last updated on Tuesday, March 21, 2017

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Three men were charged with theft over the weekend at the Indy 1500 Gun & Knife Show.

19-year-old Jaylan Basir, 19-year-old Montiaz Brown and 18-year-old Jasper Dugan were arrested shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, where the gun and knife show was taking place.

Marion County court records show Basir was charged last year with carrying a handgun without a license, but had that charged dismissed in exchange for pleading guilty to one charge of invasion of privacy. He faces an additional charge of intimidation in connection with Sunday's arrest.

At least two other reports of stolen firearms were made at the state fairgrounds during the gun show.

A 63-year-old man reported a firearm was stolen from him on Saturday sometime between Noon and 1 p.m. at the shoe.
On Sunday, a 47-year-old man reported a firearm was stolen from him between 11 a.m. and Noon.

No arrests were made in either of those incidents.
