Vincennes University Partners With World's Largest Cyber Security Certification Organization

(VINCENNES) - Vincennes University’s Department of Information Technology has partnered with the International Council of eCommerce Consultants (EC-Council) as an official Accredited Training Center. The EC-Council is a member-based organization widely known for offering the most challenging and recognized cyber security certifications globally.

This partnership allows the IT Department exclusive access to teach EC-Council certification classes using official training materials, as well as the ability to proctor certification exams in the classroom. The EC-Council offers a variety of accredited certifications programs, including Certified Ethical Hacker, Computer Hacking Forensics Investigator, Certified Security Analyst, and License Penetration Testing. EC-Council certification programs are endorsed by the US National Security Agency (NSA), the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS), US Department of Defense Directive 8570, as well as accreditation from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Greg Hirsch, assistant professor of Information Technology, has completed the Certified Ethical Hacker training and earned the Certified Ethical Hacker certification.

"Today's IT graduate needs to be skilled in cyber security. The cyber security certification will further prepare our
Bachelor of Science Degree students for a career in Information Technology," Hirsch said. Hirsch has worked 15 years in the IT industry as a Network Administrator prior to joining the faculty at VU to teach Information Technology and Cyber Security.

The Certified Ethical Hacker certification courses will be offered at VU beginning in the fall 2017 semester.

ABOUT THE IT PROGRAM
VU's Department of Information Technology offers baccalaureate degrees in Technology/Concentration Information Technology and Homeland Security/Concentration in Cyber Security and Information Technology. Associate degrees are offered in Information Technology, IT Support and Cyber Security, Computer Programming, Web Design, and Game Development.
