(BICKNELL) - Indiana State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on North Bicknell Road near Ragsdale Road that seriously injured a Bicknell man on Monday afternoon.

The investigation revealed that 48-year-old Thomas D. Stemm of Bicknell was driving his 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck at a high rate of speed northbound on North Bicknell Road south of Bicknell when he failed to negotiate a curve near Ragsdale Road. The vehicle left the roadway on the right side, rolled several times and came to a final rest in a nearby yard.

Stemm was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, but was later airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville where she is currently being treated for serious injuries. Troopers believe alcohol was a factor.

The investigation is continuing.
