(VERMILLION CO) - A nearly month long ISP investigation into complaints of vandalism and the theft of electronic music related items from the Cayuga Christian Church at 406 Logan Street in Cayuga, has resulted in the arrest of four male juveniles.

On December 28, 2016, Indiana State Police Master Trooper Ty Lightle initiated a criminal investigation into the thefts and vandalism. Church officials reported that during an evening recreational sports session on December 27, 2016, four male juveniles arrived to play basketball and told the adult men they had permission to be there, when actually they did not have permission. During the time the juveniles were at the church, between 5:30p.m. and 8:00p.m., the men's lockers in the locker room were ransacked, decorations were removed from some of the walls in the men's locker room, as well as other vandalism in the locker room that caused minor damage, and upon leaving the church, the juveniles allegedly removed electronic music items valued at approximately $1200. Only a few of the items have been recovered and the estimated damage to the church was $50.

In the following days, Master Trooper Ty Lightle, with assistance of ISP Detective Don Anglin, conducted many interviews, followed various leads and tips, examined surveillance footage, and were able to develop four juvenile suspects. At the conclusion of the investigation, Master Trooper Lightle submitted a probable cause affidavit to the Vermillion County Prosecutor's Office for review.

After the review of the information, three of the juveniles ages 15, 16, and 17 were detained and later released to parents or guardians until their appearance in Vermillion Circuit Court later this month. A fourth male juvenile, age 16, was taken into custody and incarcerated at a juvenile detention facility awaiting his court appearance.
