(TERRE HAUTE) - Wednesday, just after noon, the Terre Haute Police Department responded to the Warren Village Housing at 1300 North 25th Street in Terre Haute to investigate a shooting.

During their initial investigation, they determined the alleged shooter was a family member of a Teere Haute police officer.

Terre Haute Chief of Police, John Plasse, requested ISP Putnamville conduct the investigation.

Police say an altercation occurred in the 3rd floor hallway as 32-year-old Charles E. Dishon is believed to have initiated a physical attack on 60-year-old Steve Hall of Terre Haute.

Once the first physical altercation ended, Hall was attempting to enter his nearby family member's apartment to gather his thoughts, when Dishon allegedly physically attacked him again at Hall's family member's apartment door.

As the attack entered the apartment of Hall's family member, Hall drew a semi-automatic handgun and fired striking Dishon in the face. Steve Hall suffered a gunshot wound to his hand during the altercation.

Charles E. Dishon and Steve Hall were transported to Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
Dishon was later airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of what is believed to be a non-life threatening wound. Hall's wound is also believed to be non-life threatening.

Police say the two men did not know each other.

Once the ISP investigation is complete, all information will be submitted to the Vigo County Prosecutor's Office for review of any potential charges.

Detectives from the Putnamville Post are currently leading the investigation with assistance from ISP Crime Scene Investigations, Terre Haute Police officers, detectives, and crime scene investigators, the Terre Haute Fire/EMS, and the Vigo County Prosecutor's Office.

Please direct any ISP investigation questions to Sergeant Joe Watts.
