Last updated on Tuesday, February 21, 2017

(VIGO CO.) - Sunday, at 5:06 p.m., Indiana State Police and Vigo County emergency agencies responded to a car versus motorcycle crash on US 150 at North Range Line Place in northwestern Vigo County.

According to an Indiana State Police report, a white 1995 Lincoln passenger car, driven by 62-year-old Valli Mitchell of Paris, Illinois, was southbound on N. Range Line Place and attempted a left turn to proceed eastbound on US 150.

In doing so, she drove into the path of a westbound maroon 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by 61-year-old Daniel R. Wakefield of Tuscola, Illinois.

During the collision, Wakefield was thrown from his bike and due to protective clothing and wearing a helmet, Wakefield sustained only minor injuries. He was examined at the scene by fire and EMS units and released upon his request. Wakefield sought his own medical services.

The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Brad Fyfe. Assisting were ISP Trooper Nicole Cheeks, Vigo County Sheriff's Deputy Kris Morris, New Goshen Fire/Rescue, and Riley Fire/Rescue/EMS Paramedics.

The unseasonable like weather has prompted an increase in motorcycle activity. Therefore, motorists are encouraged to be vigilant for motorcycles and look twice before entering roadways and intersections.
