Hardinsburg Man Arrested After Police Find Meth

(HARRISON CO.) - On Thursday, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Trooper Zach Smith and his K-9, “Riggs”, stopped a 1987 Dodge Dakota for a traffic infraction on Heuser Street near State Road 135 in Palmyra.

During the course of the traffic stop reasonable suspicion was developed that criminal activity was afoot. Trooper Smith deployed his K-9 and the dog gave a positive alert on the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed that the driver, Richard J. Huebel, 38, from West Pavey Ridge Road in Hardinsburg, was in possession of approximately three grams of methamphetamine, several items of drug paraphernalia, and a loaded .32 caliber handgun.

Richard J. Huebel was arrested on felony charges of possession of meth less than five grams with a firearm in possession, carrying a handgun without a permit by a convicted felon; maintaining a common nuisance and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Richard J. Huebel was incarcerated at the Harrison County Jail.
