Body Found In Sugar Creek Identified

(MONTGOMERY CO.) - The body found in the Sugar Creek on Saturday has been positively identified as 19-year-old Kaden Cravens of Crawfordsville.

He had been reported missing to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department and was listed as a Silver Alert on January 26, 2017.

His family has been notified. Assisting was the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.

Any information on the Silver Alert broadcast or the missing person report should be directed to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. This will be all that is released from the Indiana State Police.

The original story:

On Saturday at approximately 6:25 p.m. on the Sugar Creek near County Road 225 west approximately ΒΌ mile north of Country Club Road, some local kayakers came across a body submerged in the creek. The Indiana State Police at Lafayette were called along with Montgomery County Sheriff's Department.

With assistance from the Department of Natural Resources, the body was removed from the water and identification will be done by Montgomery County Coroner's Office. No foul play is suspected. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. No further information will be released at this time. The investigation is continuing.

Others assisting at the scene were troopers from the ISP Lafayette Post, ISP Criminal Investigation Division and ISP Crime Scene Investigation.
