Vincennes Township Fire Department Donates AED's To Knox County Troopers

Last updated on Friday, January 6, 2017

(VINCENNES) - Earlier this week, the Vincennes Township Fire Department donated brand new Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) to troopers who patrol Knox County.

According to the American Heart Association, over 325,000 people in the U.S. will suffer from cardiac arrest this year. An AED can be used to get a person's heartbeat back to normal and possibly save a person's life.

Majority of the time troopers are patrolling in rural areas and can be instrumental in responding quickly to those incidents where it may take paramedics or fire personnel more time to respond.

"We sincerely appreciate the generous donation made by Vincennes Township Fire Department," said Lieutenant Brian Bailey, Commander of the Evansville District. Currently, 17 troopers from the Evansville District patrol with AED's.
