Routine Traffic Stop For Speeding Results In Arrest

(SULLIVAN CO.) - Friday morning around 11 a.m., Indiana State Police Trooper Brent Robinson stopped a speeding maroon Ford Escape in the town of Carlisle.

During conversations with the driver, the trooper suspected possible criminal activity. A search of the driver resulted in the discovery of a syringe and during a search of the vehicle the trooper found a .38 caliber revolver and a reported stolen license plate in the driver's compartment.

The driver, 41-year-old Kyle Warnick of Terre Haute, was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun without a license (level 5 felony); possession of a syringe (level 6 felony); theft (A misdemeanor); and driving with a suspeneded driver's license with a prior conviction (A misdemeanor).

Warnick was then taken to Sullivan County Jail.

Assisting Trooper Robinson were ISP Master Troopers Polly Blackburn and Tom Hanks and Recovery Towing.
