New Indiana Conservation Officer Added To District Five In Sullivan County

Last updated on Tuesday, January 3, 2017

(SULLIVAN CO.) - Indiana Conservation Officers are proud to announce Officer Dustin Cary as being the newest addition to the District Five ranks.

Officer Dustin Cary, a Vincennes native, attended Vincennes University graduating Cum Laude with a degree in Conservation Law Enforcement in 2012. During his time at Vincennes University, he completed an internship program with Indiana Conservation Officers located within operational District Five.

Cary was hired by the State of Maryland as a Natural Resource Police Officer upon graduating college. During his time in Maryland, he served as a Firearms Instructor as well as a Division Armorer.

Although Cary enjoyed working as an Officer in the State of Maryland, his Indiana roots eventually called him home. Cary entered the Indiana Conservation Officer's hiring process in January of 2015; after successfully completing the hiring process, he joined Indiana's ranks in June of 2015.

Officer Cary was assigned to Posey County in District Seven upon the completion of his training. Wanting to move closer to his childhood home, his transfer request to Sullivan County was granted in November of 2016. In addition to his law enforcement duties, Officer Cary specializes as a Venomous Reptile Handler and is currently undergoing training to become a Side Scan Sonar Specialist. Officer Cary is married with two children along with a third expected to arrive any day. Please join us in welcoming Dustin Cary as Sullivan County's newest Officer.
