Last updated on Tuesday, January 3, 2017

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Governor-elect Eric Holcomb this morning announced his selection of Allen County Auditor Tera Klutz to serve as Indiana’s 57th Auditor of State beginning Monday, January 9, 2017. Current Auditor Suzanne Crouch will be vacating that position as a result of her election to the office of Lt. Governor.

Klutz, who was elected Allen County Auditor in 2010 and re-elected in 2014, will be the first certified public accountant to serve as Auditor of State in Indiana history. She previously served eight years as Chief Deputy Auditor in Allen County and is currently the president-elect of the Indiana Auditors' Association.

"Tera Klutz, with her years of experience as a county auditor and as a certified public accountant, is ready to immediately assume the duties of Indiana's chief financial officer," said Governor-elect Holcomb. "Having provided efficient and effective government service to the citizens of one of Indiana's largest counties, I know she will be a valuable asset as we aim to provide exceptional state government service at a great taxpayer value to Hoosiers statewide."

Lt. Governor-elect Auditor Crouch said, "Tera not only has the invaluable experience of serving in local government and understanding the importance of delivering top-notch service to constituents, but she has also earned the respect and admiration of her fellow auditors who selected her to be president-elect of the Indiana Auditors' Association. I am honored that Tera Klutz will carry on the work we have done in the Auditor's Office and help take the office to the next level."

Senate President Pro Tempore David Long added, "Tera Klutz has done an outstanding job as the Allen County Auditor and she will be equally great as our new State Auditor. The people of Indiana are lucky to have her looking out for them."

"On Election Night, Governor-elect Holcomb promised that his Administration would make history and his pick of Tera Klutz meets that threshold," said Holcomb-Crouch Transition co-chair Kyle Hupfer. "For the first time in Indiana's two-hundred year history, we will have a certified public accountant serving as Indiana's chief financial officer. That's a big win for Hoosiers who crave continued fiscal responsibility and government that lives within its means and puts taxpayers first."

Klutz will be sworn-in along with Governor-elect Eric Holcomb, Lt. Governor-elect Suzanne Crouch, Attorney General-elect Curtis Hill and Superintendent of Public Instruction-elect Dr. Jennifer McCormick at a ceremony at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Monday, January 9, 2017.
