Last updated on Thursday, December 1, 2016

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Emergency crews are on the scene of a serious crash on I-65 southbound just south of 38th Street.

The crash resulted in a semi tractor-trailer rolling over and spilling nearly 55 gallons of diesel fuel onto the roadway.

There were two other vehicles involved as well and serious injuries are being reported. Police are having a difficult time locating some of the injured occupants of the vehicles because they were transported from the scene by Good Samaritans.

The interstate closure is expected to last 2-3 hours while this crash is investigated and the wreckage is removed. Traffic coming into downtown is highly encouraged to seek alternate routes, such as I-465 to I-70.

This is an ongoing investigation, the cause of the crash or extent of some injuries is still unknown. There is no further information to release at this time.
