(INDIANAPOLIS) - Governor-elect Eric Holcomb announced Wednesday that Jim Brown will be reappointed as the Director of the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs and General Stewart Goodwin will be reappointed as Executive Director of the Indiana War Memorials Commission effective January 9, 2017.
"As a Navy Veteran, I know that caring for Hoosiers who have served our nation is as important as anything we do," said Governor-elect Eric Holcomb. "Jim Brown has been instrumental in promoting legislation critical to Indiana veterans and working to increase the quality of service being provided in each of our 92 counties. We are fortunate that he will continue to lead this critical agency forward."
Jim Brown Biography:
Jim Brown has served as the Director of Veterans Affairs since his appointment by Governor Mike Pence in 2013. Previously, he served as the Indiana National Guard State Command Sergeant Major and has 25 years of small business ownership. Jim is a decorated veteran of the United States Army and the Indiana National Guard, receiving awards such as the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Purple Heart, and many more. He and his wife Cheryl Kimler have six children and nine grandchildren.

General Stewart Goodwin Biography:
General Stewart Goodwin currently serves as the Indiana War Memorial Executive Director, originally appointed by Governor Mitch Daniels and then reappointed by Governor Mike Pence. His military career spanned 37 years in the United States Air Force including assignments at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Grissom AFB, and Operation Desert Storm, ultimately retiring as a brigadier general. He is a graduate of the University of Evansville and currently resides in Indianapolis.
