Governor-Elect Eric Holcomb Announces Multiple Appointments And Reappointments

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Governor-elect Eric Holcomb announced the following appointments and reappointments:

Doug Carter, Indiana State Police Superintendent:

"Doug Carter has upheld the utmost professionalism as Superintendent of the Indiana State Police," said Governor-elect Eric Holcomb. "Hoosiers will continue be well served with Rob in this role."

Doug Carter has served as the Superintendent of the Indiana State Police since his appointment by Governor Mike Pence in 2012. He previously served two terms as the Hamilton County Sheriff and was a road trooper for the Indiana State Police Pendleton post for eighteen years. Doug also worked as a Public Safety and Justice Specialist to provide public safety solutions to municipalities throughout the state.

Jane Jankowski, Deputy Chief of Staff:

"Jane Jankowski is a trusted professional with extensive knowledge and experience," said Governor-elect Eric Holcomb. "I have seen Jane's talent and tenacity first-hand, and I know she will play an integral role in my administration and in bringing Indiana to the next level."

Jane Jankowski has worked in media and public relations, crisis management, and strategic communications for nearly three decades in fields involving sports, state and federal government, and higher education. She currently works at Hathaway Strategies and previously served as Press Secretary and Communications Director for Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels for 8 years. Before joining Indiana state government, Jane was Director of Communications for Indiana University-Bloomington. She has also worked with the NCAA, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the Indiana Sports Corporation.

Sarah Taylor, Executive Director of the Hoosier Lottery:

Sarah Taylor has served as the Executive Director of the Hoosier Lottery since her appointment by Governor Mike Pence in 2013. Previously, she worked for the City of Indianapolis as a Director of Constituent Services. Before her time in public service, she worked as a consultant at eGov and an Election Sector Lead/Public Sector Manager at Quest Information Systems. She is a graduate of Indiana University.

Bret Marsh, Indiana State Veterinarian:

Bret Marsh has served as the Indiana State Veterinarian since January of 1994. Marsh has spent his entire career with the Indiana Board of Animal Health, holding positions such as Director of Swine Health Programs and a supervisor and training officer in the meat and poultry inspection area. Marsh is on a special detail for the USDA Secretary's Homeland Security Staff, has been President of the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association, and served as the First Vice President of the U.S. Animal Health Association. He has served in the AVMA House of Delegates for nearly a decade. Marsh was given the Sagamore of the Wabash in 1997 by Governor Evan Bayh and a graduate and Distinguished Alumnus of both Purdue's School of Veterinary Medicine and the College of Agriculture.

Rick Hite, Director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission:

Rick Hite has served as the Director of the Indiana Civil Rights Commission since his appointment by Governor Mike Pence in February of 2016. Hite most recently served as Chief of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), after he was appointed by Mayor Greg Ballard, and previously worked as Deputy Director of Public Safety. Before moving to Indianapolis from Baltimore, Maryland, Hite served 32 years with the Baltimore City Police Department, holding all ranks from Police Cadet to Lt. Colonel. Hite is a native of Gary, Indiana. Hite has served on the Board of Directors of the Department of Justice Advisory Committee, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the National Governors' Security Association, the Major Cities Chiefs Association, the Family League of Baltimore and the Johns Hopkins Urban Health Institute. Hite holds professional development certifications from the FBI National Executive Institute, the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers, Yale University, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the Maryland Crime Prevention Institute and Maryland State Police.

Sara Gonso Tait, Executive Director of the Indiana Gaming Commission:

"Sara Gonso Tait has served the Indiana Gaming Commission with dedication and I am thrilled she has agreed to stay on board in this position," said Governor-elect Eric Holcomb. "She will continue to lead the Indiana Gaming Commission with expertise and commitment."

Sara Gonso Tait as served as Executive Director of the Indiana Gaming Commission since her appointment in 2015 by Governor Mike Pence. She previously served in other roles in the department including General Counsel, Director of Licensing Control, and Staffing Attorney. Before her time in public service she worked as an attorney at Lewis Wagner, LLP. She is a graduate of Miami University and attended Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

Deb Frye, Executive Director of the Professional Licensing Agency:

"Deb Frye has vast experience in the Professional Licensing Agency and has served Hoosiers with diligence," said Governor-elect Eric Holcomb. "I look forward to working with her in the future to take Indiana to the next level."

Deb Frye was appointed to serve as Executive Director of the Professional Licensing Agency since 2015 when she was appointed by Governor Mike Pence. Previous to this position, she served the agency in various roles including Deputy Director/Chief of Staff and Compliance Director. Prior to her role with PLA, she owned a small business and served as Deputy Fire Marshal and subsequently as Director of Fire Code Enforcement at the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
