VU Students To Host Miss Vincennes University Scholarship Pageant

(VINCENNES) - Six Vincennes University students will share hosting duties with Miss VU 2016 Kenadi Ader during the 51st annual Miss Vincennes University Scholarship Pageant on Friday, Nov. 11, 8 p.m. (EST), at VU’s Red Skelton Performing Arts Center.

Serving as emcees throughout the evening will be Kristin Jones, a pre-dental hygiene student from Sullivan, and Esmeralda Martinez, an acting major from Lafayette.

A special highlight of the pageant will be a Tribute to America's Military Veterans and, during the evening gown portion of the competition, contestants will be escorted by VU students who are currently serving or have served in the U.S. Military. Escorts are Alex McCurry, a homeland security and public safety major from Shelbyville; Patrick R. May, a broadcasting student from Mooreland; Joseph Hitchcock, a manufacturing technology product design and production student from Bloomington; and David Curtis, a history major from Jasper.

Also appearing onstage will be 23 Miss VU Princesses ranging in age from 6 to 12 years.

This year's Princesses are Isla, Ivy, and Izabelle Agee, daughters of Matt and Lizabeth Agee; Amelia Arthur, daughter of Melanie McMullin; Maggie Boger, daughter of Cody and Tessa Boger; Juleanne Clark, daughter of Ryan and Breanne Clark; Eva Claycomb, daughter of Nick and Kendra Claycomb; Posey Coatney, daughter of Luke and Ashley Coatney; Kate Dais, daughter of Dusty and Jessie Davis; Kaylyn and Maycie Dreiman, daughters of Benjamin Dreiman and Kacy Phillips; Madison Elliott, daughter of Chad and Danielle Elliott from Sullivan; Addison Fuller, daughter of Holly and Brook Fuller; Elizabeth Howder, daughter of Shannon Howder; Maxi Kirkwook, daughter of Tyler and Savannah Kirkwood; Ella McCormick, daughter of Will and Brittney McCormick; Jaylynn McDaniel, daughter of Josh and Marianne McDaniel; Brynley and Jayda Millspaugh, daughters of Joe and Megan Millspaugh; Riley Smith, daughter of Brad and Michelle Smith; Brooklyn Trueblood, daughter of Cody and Brittany Trueblood; Glory and Providence Wofford, daughters of Joseph and April Ann Wofford; and Amya Woodall, daughter of Kelly Lowe and Dusty Woodall.

The pageant will be streamed live online Friday evening. Televised broadcasts will be aired on Saturday, Nov. 12, 8 p.m., on WVUT-22.1 and again on Sunday, Nov. 13, 7 p.m., on WVUT-22.2.

Known as Indiana's longest, consecutively running pageant, and the only televised pageant in the state, the Miss VU Scholarship Pageant is a preliminary step toward the Miss Indiana title whose winner is then eligible to participate in the national Miss America Scholarship Pageant.

The ten Miss VU contestants include Vaishali Arora, West Lafayette; Holly Bittner, Haubstadt; Kalita Carie, Vincennes; Ashley Green, Vincennes; Samantha Haynes, Crown Point; Cassidy Mercer-Szady, Vincennes; Hannah Miller, Linton; Katlin Schultz, Vincennes; Karli Taylor, Griffith; and Miranda Toler, Frankfort.

Tickets are now on sale now and cost $10 for adults and $5 for all military veterans, seniors, non-VU students, and children. VU students are admitted free with ID and VU faculty and staff receive two free tickets with ID.
