Vehicle Crashes Into Jasper Soap Opera Laundry

(JASPER) - Jasper police are investigating what caused an 80-year-old Jasper woman to lose control of her car and crash through a north side self-serve laundry.

According to police, Immogene Patterson, of St. John Street, Jasper, pulled her 2007 Mercury Montego into the parking lot at the Soap Opera Laundry, 241 W. 42nd Street at 12:20 p.m. While pulling in, the car accelerated, jumped the curb and crashed through the front of the building. The car continued into the building.

No injuries were reported.

The crash caused about $30,000 in damages to the building and $3,000 to the vehicle, police said.

The crash is still under investigation.
